Going to another university to do research in summer is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and have fun doing chemistry. It's also a great way to break out of your protective cocoon and experience a different part of the country or a different part of the world; if you love it, you'll want to return, if you don't like it, it'll be over in a few weeks and be a good story to tell your friends and family. Large universities also use these programs to recruit future graduate students, so take advantage of the opportunity.
